Unix*Linux + Windows Tech Support Specialist - Oxfordshire - £26-36k p.a. This 3rd line support role requires a high level of Windows knowledge plus 5 years? system admin*support experience in a wide variety of Unix platforms (Solaris, True64, HP-UX, AIX, Linux) including in-depth knowledge of Samba, Sendmail, Postfix. and other MTAs; a good knowledge of other operating systems (eg Mac, OS*2, OpenVMS) an advantage. You will have strong troubleshooting skills - issue qualification and prioritisation, good written communication skills, (ability to prepare written material that is understandable, pertinent, and well structured) and good verbal communication skills (ability to communicate clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences). Windows as well as Unix*Linux is a key requirement, and a university degree is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of the highest levels of product expertise within our client`s technical support group and to act as a common escalation point for technical issues for the company?s worldwide technical support. However, this role is MUCH more than just tech support. It will include interfacing with product managers and software development teams, as well as beta testing. Some writing of knowledgebase articles will be required. There will be opportunities for providing support and training to world wide support staff.
