A growing contractor is seeking a Senior Design Engineer* Geotechnical Engineer to work in its Norfolk office. The key responsibilities for the position are to produce calculations, reports and specifications (ensuring compliance with National Standards, Statutory Requirements and client’s brief) for construction projects; to liaise with client representatives and construction employees in order to establish programmes and key dates for information issue; in conjunction with planners, estimators and construction staff, establish the most efficient and economic method of construction and use of materials within the technical requirements; to ensure and approve the issue of drawings and other technical data to all organisations*personnel involved in the appraisal or implementation of the information; at the request of, or with the approval of, the Design Manager visit site and report on the technical validity, feasibility or compliance with agreed guidelines of existing, partial or proposed projects; to check, as necessary the design calculations of Design Engineers; depending on the urgency, complexity and status of a project, undertake project co-ordination, e.g. control the preparation*timely issue of design data in accordance with the “product realisation procedures”, as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Design Manager; to ensure compliance with business management system requirements; to take responsibility for setting fees in conjunction with the Project Manager and monitoring financial performance of projects and to supervise the work of Design Engineers, Technicians and CAD Technicians. A minimum of a Civil Eng degree plus higher qualification in a geotechnical speciality, 7 years experience in geotechnical design and experience of building and*or civil engineering structures is essential for the post. Interest*experience of research in a geotechnical field and experience in consulting and contracting are also desirable qualities for the position.
