The Current Events – The National Newspaper for Kids is seeking 2-3 Sales & Marketing Interns based in Boro Park, Brooklyn. The Current Events is a supplemental tool that is used in the classroom by Social Studies, Science, and English teachers. Our newspaper was created by a Social Studies teacher in 1999 as a tool to enhance textbook learning. The Current Events is printed in three different reading levels and is equipped with teacher’s guides, activity sheets, critical thinking questions and vocabulary catered to each reading level. There are no advertisements in the newspaper, so all revenue is generated from subscriptions. Since 1999, we have accumulated over 50,000 readers, from word-of-mouth alone. Our internship spots will expose students to all facets of sales and marketing from the ground-up. Students will be exposed to account management, e-marketing, telemarketing, creation and execution of marketing plans, development of loyalty marketing programs, and market research & analysis.
The Current Events is a small entrepreneurial firm wherein students will be provided with hands-on training and assigned daily tasks to undertake. This is a true learning opportunity for students who are willing to roll up their sleeves, take on responsibility, and think outside the box.
Ideal candidates will be students that are pursuing a degree at a local college or university in the area of sales/marketing. This position requires at least 15-20 hours of work per week (Monday-Friday). This is an unpaid internship. School credit will be provided for those interested. Monthly metro-card stipend will be provided. Positions are available immediately.
