Alarm Experience
„«No alarm experience necessary.
„«May have one year of experience performing similar installation duties, preferably in home security (Honeywell Ademco), cable TV, telephone service, home improvement industries, low voltage: structured wiring, electrician apprentice, satellite installation and/or CCTV installation
Education
„«High School diploma or equivalent.
„«Some technical school training desired.
General Requirements
„«Must have current valid driver¡¦s license and clean driving record.
„«Reliable, state registered, state inspected and state commercial insured transportation is a necessity for the first 90 days of employment.
„«Participation in Apx Alarm Fleet Vehicle Program including the incurrence of a $200 monthly personal use fee.
„«Must have (pass) a clean criminal background.
„«Must be able to pass a drug test.
„«Must be a non-smoker.
„«Must be available to work Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday. Schedule determined by need in the area.
„«Must be available to work a 40 hour week from 9am-5pm or 1pm-9pm. Schedule determined by need in the area.
„«Strong analytical ability required to effectively communicate with all levels of employees, management and customers, strong and demonstrated effective verbal, written and listening skills and professional telephone skills and manners.
„«Must be able to work as a member of a team.
„«Must be able to stay on feet (Standing) for extended periods of time.
„«Must be flexible enough to safely maneuver through shallow attics and crawl underneath homes to run phone and A/C wires.
„«Ability and basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools.
Responsibilities
„«Installs, dismantles, reconstructs and services Honeywell Ademco & 2GIG authorized equipment in customer homes and businesses in accordance with established standards, codes and procedures.
„«Follow proper schematic wiring diagrams and hook-up procedures. Test operation of system to the monitoring center to properly establish service.
„«Utilizing knowledge of equipment and its capabilities.
„«Work safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials and clean up installation debris.
„«Explain system capabilities and operation to customer.
„«Maintain inventory control and ensure adequate stock levels of equipment.
„«Establish account in customer database and complete all necessary paperwork, including work orders, service orders, customer contracts and time clock forms.
„«Assist in promotion and sale of additional equipment/services.
„«Exhibit professional appearance and conduct in accordance with established Company standards to present a professional image to the customer and the general public.
„«All Alarm Technician I employees must successfully complete a 2-4 week training in the field. (Sensor & panel programming, placement, testing and troubleshooting, comprehension of basic phone and a/c wiring, phone line seizure, fishing wire, etc.) This is to acquire and understand the basic standards set forth by the APXALARM Service Department
„«APXALARM service document training including; Agreements, Addendums, Quality Acceptance forms etc. (must have general ability to comprehend and interpret all forms)
„«Must interact and communicate well with customers and co-workers alike.
„«Must have ability to communicate effectively with adverse, difficult and potentially discouraged customers.
„«Must accurately educate or re-educate customers on basic system operations and functions including but not limited to arming & disarming alarm system, recording and playing messages, bypassing zones, changing master code and changing sensor batteries.
Compensation & Benefits
„«Suggested compensation will be $11.00 - $13.00 per working hour. Performance Review will be given after 90 days. Raises are only given yearly during appraisals issued by Human Resources.
„«Reduced hourly rate will apply while in training. First two weeks of employment will be paid 80 hours at $1 less than regular rate; employee will work at $1 less than regular rate in the field until Regional & Area Manager release employee to work on his/her own. No overtime will be paid while in training.
„«Fleet Vehicle will be issued to employee after 90 days. Employee will be responsible for a personal use fee of $200 per month.
„«Fuel Card will be issued to employee to use for fuel; this will be issued during training period.
„«Cell phone will be issued to technician.
„«Misc. compensation will be given. Currently $50 per month.
„«Additional compensation will be given for accounts sold by technicians.
„«Additional compensation will be given for equipment ¡§up sold¡¨ to customers.
„«Medical and Dental benefits are available after 90 days of employment but must be requested prior to 90 days of employment or default to the open enrollment period.
„«Supplemental Insurance (Aflac) is available after 90 days of employment.
Receiving any certification will only help you to receive the suggested compensation for that particular certification. It does not entitle you to the suggested pay. All pay rates are between the technician and their manager and can be above, below, or at the suggested pay scale. The certification program does not in any way entitle you to a pay raise. It is however another tool your managers can use to assess the competency of your work and it can help them to determine an appropriate level of pay for each technician.
