Our technology department is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a new senior engineer to take on the challenge of sustaining and improving our systems. We have a renewed focus on IT, with accordingly devoted resources, which will allow you to properly tackle this key role. Your job will touch many different areas within IT, ranging from servers and cabling to operating systems, programming and scripting languages, and technical documentation. You will be involved in strategy and decision making, and will become an early member of a now expanding team of gifted technologists. What`s the catch? As the new Sr. Systems Engineer for PR Newswire, working in our Jersey City, NJ offices, your primary mission will be to partner with the Technical Architect to effectively ensure the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of our in-house information systems. This will include monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked systems, migrating legacy systems to new platforms, as well as all new projects. Your proven ability to work with a diverse set of technologies -- including Windows and Unix OS`s; Perl, Shell, and Windows scripting languages; TCP/IP, firewalls, and general networking; Apache, Tomcat, IIS, SQL, and more -- will enable you to seamlessly take on this challenging new role. As you grow, your responsibilities will expand to include capacity planning, trend analysis, ROI analysis for proposed systems, R&D, and more, so experience with in these areas will prove invaluable to you and us. As a critical member of our Systems team you will interface with architects, business analysts, developers, administrators and various other technology departments, allowing you to utilize your refined aptitude for productively communicating and functioning as part of the overall team.
