We`re looking for a good senior level Ruby/Ruby on Rails developer to help us develop a web service for independent bands.
Qualified candidates will have at least 1-3 years of experience developing web applications in ruby and ideally significant prior experience with LAMP development.
High level knowledge of Javascript (particularly Extjs) is a significant plus, as is as is general experience with a wide range of web development technologies and frameworks, particularly in a Linux/Unix environment.
A Senior Developer will be responsible for requirements gathering and analysis, assisting in the development of specifications and timelines, and ultimately implementing the project along side a team of experienced developers.
Develop readable, scalable, fully tested and well commented code is a must. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
DUTIES:
* Participates in a group of (initially) 2 developers
* Working both alone and in groups to rapidly prototype, test, develop and extend high quality software
* Thrive in a fast paced startup environment.
* Create software and systems documentation.
* develop testing suites for applications and systems.
* Updates job knowledge by keeping abreast of industry developments, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and maintaining personal networks
REQUIRED SKILLS:
* Ruby/RoR
* Extensive high level javascript experience (Extjs a plus)
* Experience in configuration and maintenance of Apache web server (nginx experience is also a plus)
* HTML/CSS (hand-coding in dynamic web programming applications only!)
* Experience with other scripting and programming languages (Bash, PHP, Python, C, etc.) a plus!
* Proficiency in *NIX command line and with common *NIX tools
* Usage of Subversion/Git in a complex development environment
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Superior time management skills
* Software development cycle fundamentals
* Object-oriented design experience
Full Time, Onsite in New York City. Ideally starting out as a contractor and moving to salaried.
