Build metal, wood, and hand-blown glass lamps for an award-winning, rapidly growing, frequently published, design company - specializing in custom, sculptural, environmentally-friendly, hand-blown glass lighting. Our clients are architects and designers, and our work is in the permanent collection of the National Building Museum/Cooper Hewitt.
You will help design lighting, design production processes, coordinate part of our production, prepare for trade shows, assist with marketing, pack orders, and all other aspects of the design business, depending on your interest and experience, and project needs.
Requirements include some prior wood or metal work experience, desire for hands-on work with a design team, and willingness to learn and to work hard in a fun environment.
You should be detail-oriented and be able to work independently and with others, to multi-task, and to use good judgment. Experience with, or interest in, new technologies (e.g. environmentally friendly, LED, low voltage, fibre optic, etc.) and designing with them a plus. Also experience with Photoshop, AutoCAD, Excel, Access or similar software a plus.
